To all of you who have supported us from every corner of the globe, all of you who have come to the Emirates, all of you who have waited in the rain and cold just to greet me after a game. I want to tell all of you that I have worked with passion, with commitment and with effort. “I would have liked nothing more than to have achieved better results for you. “I also want to send a message of gratitude to all Arsenal employees for the way the

Arsenal FC sack Emery

Unai Emery has lost his job as Arsenal head coach because owner Stan Kroenke lost faith after last night’s defeat by Eintracht Frankfurt. "Kroenke was willing to give Emery more time but last night was the final straw. "Senior figures at Arsenal including Raul Sanllehi and Edu had decided before last night that Emery needed to be replaced. It was earlier revealed that some senior figures at Arsenal wanted José Mourinho to replace Emery before he took the Spurs job. And now it's been rumored that there has been contact between Arsenal and Max Allegri and he wants the Arsenal job. "Arsenal players had lost faith in Emery and his methods and communication was a big issue." Meanwhile, Arsenal goal keeper Martinez posted on social media, apologising on behalf of his team-mates for letting the sacked manager down. Club legend, Freddie Ljungberg will stand in before a replacement is made.

Ogun State governor declares ‘war’ on randy lecturers

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, threatened to deal with lecturers harassing students sexually in all the higher institutions of learning in the state. Abiodun said he would exercise ‘the full weight of the law’ on any lecturer who takes sexual advantage of their students. He emphasised that his administration would not condone any form of sexual intimidation or other vices in any of Ogun State-owned schools. Speaking at the 11th convocation ceremony of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Gov Abiodun described the much-talked about sexual harassment as a thing of shame, adding that such a thing should not happen in any tertiary institution where discipline is taken seriously. He, however, commended the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, for the sensitisation and warning publications embarked upon on the pages of national dallies. He said the zero tolerance of the institution for sexual harassment is a pointer

Liverpool FC plans to increase stadium capacity

Liverpool have put forward proposals to increase Anfield's capacity to over 61,000 with an expansion of the stadium's Anfield Road Stand. The European champions plan to add around 7,000 seats to the stand, which currently houses just over 9,000 fans including opposition supporters. The move comes three years after Liverpool completed a £115m redevelopment of Anfield's Main Stand, which increased the stadium's capacity to around 54,000. Liverpool recently sent out 5,000 leaflets to local residents inviting them to the first stage of public consultation over the proposed expansion, which begins with a drop-in event on November 29. The first stage of public consultation will be inviting feedback until December 13, with a second stage due to begin in early 2020. Liverpool released the first images of the proposed expansion on Thursday and the club's chief operating officer, Andy Hughes, insists the majority of the extra seating would be reserved for "gen

200-level student arrested for participating in NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps has arrested a 200-level student who allegedly obtained a fake degree certificate and was undergoing the orientation exercise at the Zamfara State camp. NYSC last Friday apprehended the student named Rose, who was a 200-level Journalism undergraduate at a university in the Benin Republic. The NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, confirmed the arrest of the student to our correspondent. He said the Benin Republic university wrote to the scheme when its officials discovered her on the social media, posting her photographs in NYSC uniform in the Zamfara camp. She was undergoing the Batch C Stream 1 orientation course before she was arrested. The DG noted that the student had been brought to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and handed over to officials of the Department of State Services for further investigations. Ibrahim warned that the NYSC would clamp down on fake graduates and certificates, adding that anyone arrested wo

FRSC reinforces directive on use of google maps while driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified its position on the use of Google Maps, The FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Gora was quoted saying that driving with the aid of Google map using mobile phones is a serious traffic offence. Gora said this at the inauguration of the 2019 Ember Months Campaign by Lugbe Unit Command of the FRSC in Abuja yesterday. But, FRSC Spokesman Bisi Kazeem making reference to Gora’s comments said the Sector Commander was quoted out of context and his statement outrightly misrepresented. Kazeem said the FRSC as a technology-driven organisation is not and has never stood against the use of Google Maps by Motorists. The statement read: “To state the obvious, we have always enlightened the public on the position of the law on the use of phone while driving. “The statement he made during the flag off buttresses the position of the Corps, which is that any driver who intends to deploy the use of Google Map

Ariana Grande shows off natural curly hair on Instagram

Ariana Grande may be known for her waist-grazing ponytail, but her real hair is much shorter. The pop star, 26, rarely gives fans a glimpse of what’s beneath her extensions but showed off her natural hair on her Instagram stories on Monday. Though she kept her hair up in a small pony, she appears to have bangs to accompany the shoulder-grazing curls. She previously showed off her real hair in February, when it was visibly shorter, and compared the look to a photo of her 5-year-old self with a remarkably similar hairstyle. The painful pony may be her signature, but it was born out of necessity after years of dyeing and straightening her hair while on Nickelodeon’s “Victorious” severely damaged the singer’s locks. “That completely destroyed my hair,” Grande wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post in 2014. “I wear it in a pony tail [sic] because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down.” Grande’s look — including her hair, long sw

Rihanna shows sports spirit with $3,500 high-fashion soccer ball

Pop star beauty mogul, 31, hit up the UEFA Champions League soccer match on Tuesday night with a very appropriate — and expensive — accessory. Riri and her brother Rorrey Fenty watched Juventus play Atletico Madrid at Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy and she sported a Louis Vuitton monogram-covered soccer ball for the occasion. Though the leather carrying case and strap makes the ball easy to transport, it is not in fact a purse. Rather, it’s a limited-edition design that was created for the 1998 World Cup in France; a pre-owned version of the portable ball is available at What Goes Around Comes Around for $3,500. To complete her look, the 31 years old star wore a monochromatic brown outfit, all from her Fenty clothing line, including a sweatshirt ($400), shearling jacket ($3,660) and scarf ($760). She accessorized with Fenty sunglasses ($250) and Louis Vuitton ankle boots ($1,295). It seems that Rihanna chose sides at the game: She posed for photos with a custom “Riri” Juventu

Savannah Guthrie will still host Thanksgiving Day coverage, despite eye injury

Savannah Guthrie called in to the “Today” show Wednesday to discuss a recent eye injury following an incident with son Charley’s toy train, though she will still be able to participate in NBC’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade coverage, a source told Page Six. “Charley threw a toy train right at my eye and it tore my retina,” the 47-year-old co-anchor began. “It happened last week, actually, and then I lost my vision in my right eye about 24 hours later, and then it turned out to be kind of serious. They were afraid my retina would detach. They told me to just take it easy and they’ve been doing a bunch of laser procedures, trying to avoid having to do the full surgery,” she continued. Guthrie also expressed her gratitude for the doctors, who’ve “been so careful with me.” “I really did lose my vision in my right eye,” she said, adding, “It was so blurry from, not to get too gross, but there was so much blood inside the eye that it completely blocked my vision.” Guthrie also sa

Twitter set to remove inactive accounts and free up usernames in December

Twitter is sending out emails to owners of inactive accounts with a warning: sign in by December 11th, or your account will be history and its username will be up for grabs again. Any account that hasn’t signed in for more than six months will receive the email alert. “As part of our commitment to serve the public conversation, we’re working to clean up inactive accounts to present more accurate, credible information people can trust across Twitter. Part of this effort is encouraging people to actively log-in and use Twitter when they register an account, as stated in our inactive accounts policy,” a spokesperson told The Verge by email. “We have begun proactive outreach to many accounts who have not logged into Twitter in over six months to inform them that their accounts may be permanently removed due to prolonged inactivity.” Twitter hasn’t yet said exactly when recouped usernames will be made available to existing users. The account removal process “will happen over many month

Justin Timberlake back on set with Alisha Wainwright after holding hands

Justin Timberlake was back on set with “Palmer” co-star Alisha Wainwright just days after the two were spotted holding hands. Both Timberlake and Wainwright were dressed casually as they got back to work for their movie in New Orleans on Monday. The “Can’t Stop the Feeling” singer, who is married to Jessica Biel, was photographed out with Wainwright earlier this week where he was seen holding hands with the co-star. Wainright, who plays Timberlake’s love interest in their film, also appeared to rest her hand on the pop star’s knee. However, close friends have insisted that they are just friends. “There is 100 percent nothing going on,” a Timberlake source said. Justin Timberlake was reportedly not wearing his wedding ring when he was hanging out with Alisha. Timberlake and Biel, 37, have been married since 2014. They share 4-year-old son Silas.

Hoods attacked actress Jennifer Agostini, friends leaving Midtown bar: suit

A model and an actress got their money-makers messed up by a racist pack of miscreants during a Midtown bar brawl, according to a new lawsuit seeking to force the venue to hang on to surveillance footage of the throw-down. Actress Jennifer Agostini, 43, and swimsuit model Prendinellys Garcia, 47, ran up a nearly $1,000 tab at Midtown lounge Sky Room for their friend’s birthday Saturday night before leaving around 3 a.m. Sunday, their Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit says. But on their way out of the West 40th Street club, they got jumped and beaten to the ground by a group of 10 to 15 people who were yelling “white motherf—ers,” “dirty white b—-es” and “f—k those white b—-es and their money,” the court papers say. “It was just this stampede as we were leaving. We just got rushed and assaulted by, I can’t tell you by how many people,” Agostini — who is set to begin filming the show “Brooklyn Ties” this Spring — told The Post. “I’m a lead character on the series in March, and I

Tony Robbins sues BuzzFeed for defamation over sexual misconduct reports

Self-help guru Tony Robbins has commenced defamation proceedings against BuzzFeed in Ireland, over the website’s series of articles detailing allegations of sexual misconduct against him. The plenary summons against BuzzFeed UK — which was filed in High Court and obtained by The Post — asks for damages due to “defamation, malicious falsehood, misrepresentation, breach of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.” It comes less than a week after BuzzFeed News reported that Robbins, now 59, was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at an elite California summer camp in 1985. The article was the sixth in a series by the website on verbal abuse and sexual misconduct allegations against Robbins. He’s also been accused of groping and harassing fans and staffers and berating rape victims. He has denied the allegations. Robbins’ attorney, Paul Tweed, said in a statement that his client had started legal proceedings “in relation to a number of unfounded allegat

Trump denies telling Giuliani to get Ukraine to investigate political foes

President Trump has denied sending his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to Ukraine to gather intel on his political foes. “No, I didn’t direct him,” Trump told former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, according to USA TODAY reports. “But you have to understand, Rudy is a great corruption fighter.” When O’Reilly pushed the president on what business his attorney was conducting in Ukraine, Trump responded: “ask that to Rudy.” “I know he was going to go to Ukraine, and I think he canceled a trip,” Trump said. “But you know, Rudy has other clients other than me.” Giuliani backed up Trump’s claims in a statement. “He never did and I never did,” Giuliani told the outlet. “I never went to Ukraine and I was always seeking evidence to defend him against false charges in my role as his lawyer.” The former New York City mayor did, however, recently confirm that he conducted a personal investigation into Ukraine “collusion and corruption” during the special counsel probe into Russia

Purdue University student falls 200 feet to his death inside Alabama cave

An experienced young caver plummeted 200 feet to his death while rappelling inside an Alabama cavern, police and university officials said. Trever Louis Col, a 21-year-old senior at Purdue University in Indiana, died Saturday at Alabama’s Valhalla Cave in Jackson County after traveling nearly 500 miles with four other students who enjoyed spelunking and exploring cave systems, WHNT reported. “They’re all cavers,” Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said of the group. “They do this for fun and sport.” The thrill-seeking youngsters camped inside the cave overnight. Col fell early Saturday after the group awoke to rappel some 227 feet below, Phillips said. "They were all going to go down in the cave and they were in the pit, more-less a vertical drop,” the sheriff said. Col, originally from Austin, Texas, died on impact after his rigging came loose due to a knot in the rope. He then fell roughly 200 feet to his death as he tried to fix his equipment, Phillips said. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent an open letter to Mrs Soyata Maiga, Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the commission’s members requesting them: “to urgently intervene and put pressure on the Nigerian authorities and their agents to immediately end the intimidation and harassment of detained journalist and activist Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare. In the letter, SERAP asked the commission to also pressure the government for the harassment of the detainees’ sureties and lawyers, particularly Femi Falana, SAN who are only defending their clients’ rights. According to SERAP, “Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS) has stated that it would not release the activists until it is allowed to vet sureties that have already been verified by the court, implicitly harassing the sureties apparently with the aim of pushing them to disown the detained activists. Air Peace chairman, Onyema Denies Fraud Allegations

Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, has denied allegations that he laundered more than $20 million from Nigeria through United States bank accounts, a claim credited to the US Department of Justice. According to the Justice Department, Mr Onyema allegedly leveraged his status as a prominent business leader and airline executive while using falsified documents to commit fraud. In a statement issued by his lawyer, Mr Onyema claimed that all allegations are false and do not reflect his personality as a business owner. ”I never laundered money in my life, neither have I committed bank fraud anywhere in the world. Every kobo I transferred to the U.S. for aircraft purchase went through the Central Bank of Nigeria and all were used for the same purpose.” He insisted on his innocence on all the indictment and said that the U.S. government will find no dirt on him because he has never conducted any illegal business. ‘I have forgiven Amosun’ – Ex-Ogun Governor, OGD

Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has revealed that he has forgiven everybody that had a hand in the shutting down of his five-star Conference Hotel, located at Okemosan, Abeokuta, for eight years. Daniel, was making a veiled reference to his successor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun; saying that he believed the man behind the locking up of the hotel had “regretted” his action. Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s Conference Hotel was sealed up immediately Amosun’s administration came on board in 2011. It remained sealed till May 2019. Daniel is still facing charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over alleged fund misappropriation during his eight years tenure as governor of the Gateway State. While answering questions from reporters during a tour of the hotel, the two time governor of Ogun State on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who returned to the hotel after the exit of Amosun’s administration, said he does not

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has admitted that Antonio Conte's recent comments on how his players should carry out sexual intercourse made him laugh, but backed up his coach in asserting that players should not be overexerting themselves outside of football. Conte recently stated in an interview that his players should be putting in minimal effort when making love to their partners in order to preserve their energy and ensure a full recovery for game days. “I advise my players to have sex for short periods, with the minimum of effort and use positions where they are under their partners,” the Nerazzurri boss said. “And preferably with their wives, because then you don't have to put in an exceptional performance.” Asked whether the former Chelsea boss' comments had made him laugh, the centre-forward told DAZN: “Yes! We have to continue working hard in training. When we're at home, though, we have to rest... just like he says!” Martinez was speaking after nett

Zidane plays down Wales banner criticism

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has moved to play down any suggestion he would be upset with Gareth Bale following the controversy surrounding the forward's recent appearances for Wales. Bale has not made an appearance for Madrid since October 5 due to a calf injury, but was fit to line up for his national side against both Azerbaijan and Hungary over the past week as Ryan Giggs' team secured their place at Euro 2020. The former Tottenham star was pictured after the Hungary game celebrating with a Wales flag which included the words "Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order." in relation to a recent interview in which ex-Real striker Pedja Mijatovic questioned Bale's priorities. Bale also stated during the international break that he gets more enjoyment out of playing for Wales than Madrid, with fans and media in the Spanish capital lambasting him for showing little respect to the club which pays his wages. Zidane, though, refused to be critical of Bale&#

Eden Hazard has revealed he was never short of suitors during his time in the Premier League, though he was eventually tempted to the Bernabeu Eden Hazard says he never considered joining Paris Saint-Germain, despite the Ligue 1 giants repeatedly trying to sign him while he was at Chelsea. The 28-year-old Belgium international was frequently targeted by the French champions during his seven-year spell in the Premier League but says his loyalties – as far as French football is concerned – will always be to former club Lille. Hazard joined Lille as a teenager and went on to make close to 200 appearances for the club in all competitions, winning a league and cup double with them in 2010-11 before leaving for Chelsea a year later. "They [PSG] often wanted to recruit me,” Hazard revealed to L'Equipe. “I did not want to go back to Ligue 1, and not to another club other than Lille. I always told them no. “In my head, it was clear. They are a club that could help me win t
