‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ Director Biyi Bandele Passes Away

Biyi Bandele, the director of the famed movie adaptation “Half of a Yellow Sun,” reportedly passed away at age 54.

His death was announced in a statement signed by his daughter Temi Bandele.

The statement reads, “I am heartbroken to share the sudden and unexpected death on Sunday 7th of August in Lagos of my father Biyi Bandele.”

“Biyi was a prodigiously talented writer and film-maker, as well as a loyal friend and beloved father. He was a storyteller to his bones, with an unblinking perspective, singular voice and wisdom which spoke boldly through all of his art, in poetry, novels, plays and on screen. He told stories which made a profound impact and inspired many all over the world. His legacy will live on through his work.”

“He was taken from us much too soon. He had already said so much so beautifully and had so much more to say.”

“We ask everyone to please respect the privacy of his family and friends as we grieve his loss.”

Biyi Bandele was famed for his movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s classic novel “Half Of A Yellow Sun.”

The UK-based Nigerian writer turned director is known for his work in “Fifty”, MTV drama series, “Shuga” season three and more recently, the first Netflix Nigerian Original series, Blood Sisters.

While the cause of his death is not yet known, his loss is felt by many at home and abroad.

CJN Tanko unveils panel to hear Atiku’s appeal against Buhari

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed is presiding over the 7-man panel that will hear the appeals filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23 poll. NNL: Sanni dumps Saraki Boys

Tunde Sanni, head coach of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin has resigned, Coordinator of the team, Idris Musa, said on Monday. Musa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that Sanni had turned in his resignation letter later after a meeting with the team’s Director of Football, Alloy Chukwuemeka.
