Nigerian Independence Celebration 2020: First Lady calls for prayers

The First Lady of the federation, Aisha Buhari, has called on Nigerians to continue praying to witness the end of COVID-19 Pandemic as Nigeria prepares to mark her 60th independence anniversary.

The First Lady during a Public Lecture to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary at the National Mosque, Abuja, urged Nigerians to offer special prayers for peace, progress and sustainable development of the country.

“We need to pray for forgiveness and a special prayer for forgiveness. The world is no longer the same as a result of the pandemic, and the pandemic is a sign that almighty God is not happy with us. I think we have no choice than to continue asking for forgiveness from Almighty Allah”, she said.
Aisha urged leaders to always do the needful by ensuring justice for all. She, later joined other Muslim faithful to perform a two Jumma’ah prayer and called on Nigerians to support the Buhari administration in its quest to develop the country.

“The President cannot do it alone, he needs the support and cooperation of all Nigerians including his appointees to go in line with his change mantra,” she said.

The first lady was accompanied to the National Mosque by the former first lady Mrs Turai Yar’Adua, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women Affairs and Administration Dr Hajo Sani, wife of former Nasarawa State Governor Mrs Mairo Almakura and that of Zamfara Mrs Asmau Yari.

CJN Tanko unveils panel to hear Atiku’s appeal against Buhari

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed is presiding over the 7-man panel that will hear the appeals filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23 poll. Other members of the panel are Bode Rhodes-Vivour, Amiru Sanusi, Uwani Abaji, Ejembi Eko, John Inyang Okoro and Olukayode Ariwoola. NNL: Sanni dumps Saraki Boys

Tunde Sanni, head coach of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin has resigned, Coordinator of the team, Idris Musa, said on Monday. Musa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that Sanni had turned in his resignation letter later after a meeting with the team’s Director of Football, Alloy Chukwuemeka.
