GT Da Guitarman confirms separation from wife

Recently, stories of the alleged crash of Nigerian musician Olugbemiro Tokunbo - (GT Da Guitarman) four-year-old marriage to Annie Obiageli has been flying round social media.

The singer in a recent interview has confirmed that he has been separated from his wife for about six months.

He said, “I have been separated from my wife for about six months but I don’t know how the news got out. Couples disagree and fight, so it’s not much of a big deal. For all that its worth, she is still my wife, as we are not divorced yet. She remains one of the most amazing human beings that I have ever known. She gave me two amazing kids, so I would just focus on the good times we had. Even if we cannot salvage the relationship, I wish her the best. I pray that we are able to bring up our kids in the way of the lord. I want to use this medium to tell people to let my private life remain private. I don’t like putting my affairs in the public,” he said.

On the lessons he has learnt from his marital experience, GT said, “There are better words than ‘love’ that I now cling to. I feel words such as commitment and loyalty are more important. I feel there is no fast rule when it comes to love. It involves a lot of work, patience, commitment and understanding. Commitment has to do with both the present, past and future. For those who want to get married, put God first and resolve issues between yourselves. Don’t bring in third parties".
He also disagreed with the Public opinion that love songs are not commercially successful in Nigeria. He added, “To say that love songs are not commercially successful is a big lie. Some of the biggest songs in the country are love songs. People like Adekunle Gold, Simi, Johnny Drille, Bez and myself are alternative musicians and we are doing well. Before the advent of social media and the Internet, my brand took Nigeria by storm. The GT brand will be coming back with a lot of love songs.”

Oil prices rise amidst uncertainty over Libyan crude exports

Oil prices rose, Tuesday on uncertainty over Libyan oil exports, although plans by producer cartel OPEC to raise output loom. Brent sweet crude futures, the international benchmark for oil prices, were at 74.95 dollars per barrel at 01.04 GMT, up 22 cents, or 0.3 per cent from their last close. The United States West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at 68.33 dollars a barrel, up 25 cents, or 0.4 per cent. Traders said prices were mostly driven higher by uncertainty around oil exports by Libya, a member of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Eastern Libyan commander, Khalifa Haftar’s forces have handed control of oil ports to a separate National Oil Corporation (NOC) based in the East of the country. The official state-owned oil company based in the capital Tripoli, also called NOC, will not be allowed to handle that oil anymore, he said. In comments later confirmed to the media, Ahmed Mismari, spokesman of Haftar’s Libya National Army...
