NCDC confirms 86 new Coronavirus cases, Lagos takes the lead

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) just confirmed 86 new Coronavirus cases in the country.

This was announced by the Centre via its official Twitter page stating that 70 cases were reported in Lagos, 7 in FCT, 3 in Katsina, 3 in Akwa Ibom and one each in Jigawa, Bauchi and Borno.

With 70 new cases in Lagos, NCDC revealed in a follow up tweet that there are now 376 confirmed cases in the state, which is the worst-hit state in the country.
On Saturday night NCDC announced forty-eight new cases in Nigeria.
As at yesterday, the centre in its tweet also stated that there here were 493 Coronavirus cases reported in Nigeria, 159 discharged and 17 deaths.

However, with the new cases announced today, there are now 627 cases of Coronavirus, 170 discharged and 21 deaths across the country.

In other news, Governors in the south-west have agreed to shut their borders and to make wearing of face masks compulsory to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

Six states in the region reached the decision during a virtual meeting chaired by Ondostate governor, Rotimi Akeredolu who disclosed the development on Friday.

Governor Akeredolu stated that the governors agreed that wearing of face masks would be made compulsory for everybody coming out of their homes effective from Friday, April 24, 2020 in their respective states.

The six states include Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Oyo.

Kenyan Law Court dismisses case of man seeking compensation after his wife eloped with another man from hospital

A lawsuit filed by a man seeking to be compensated by St Mary's Mission Hospital in Kenya for allowing his wife to leave the hospital with another man after giving birth, has been struck out by a law court. The appellant had sued the St. Mary's Mission hospital at Kakamega law courts in 2020 seeking general damages from the facility on grounds that the hospital had discharged his wife and allowed her to leave with another man. CJN Tanko unveils panel to hear Atiku’s appeal against Buhari

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed is presiding over the 7-man panel that will hear the appeals filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23 poll. FRSC reinforces directive on use of google maps while driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified its position on the use of Google Maps, The FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Gora was quoted saying that driving with the aid of Google map using mobile phones is a serious traffic offence. Gora said this at the inauguration of the 2019 Ember Months Campaign by Lugbe Unit Command of the FRSC in Abuja yesterday.
