Over 650 kids escape death as flood overruns school in Anambra

Over 650 pupils of Ezigbo Primary School in Amansea in Awka North Local Council escaped death at the weekend as flood surged into the school unexpected.

This was happening barely a week after schools in Anambra state resumed for the academic session.

Elders of Okukwa village where the school is located described the flood as mysterious as the entire premises was submerged thereby preventing the students and their teachers from accessing classrooms.

Had the rain fallen during school hours the community would have witnessed a tragedy, they said.
This is because prior to the flood, the school authorities had heaped gravels to aid access to the school by teachers and pupils to their classes.

But following the flood, only few of them dared pass through the entrance to their classes for fear of been drowned by the water that was surging into the entire classrooms.

Speaking on the flooding, the school Headmistress, Mrs. Leticia Umeadi, appealed to the Anambra State ministry of environment and other related agencies in the state to come to their aid as access to classrooms has become impossible due to the incident.

FRSC reinforces directive on use of google maps while driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified its position on the use of Google Maps, The FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Gora was quoted saying that driving with the aid of Google map using mobile phones is a serious traffic offence. Kenyan Law Court dismisses case of man seeking compensation after his wife eloped with another man from hospital

A lawsuit filed by a man seeking to be compensated by St Mary's Mission Hospital in Kenya for allowing his wife to leave the hospital with another man after giving birth, has been struck out by a law court. The appellant had sued the St. Mary's Mission hospital at Kakamega law courts in 2020 seeking general damages from the facility on grounds that the hospital had discharged his wife and allowed her to leave with another man. After delivering and at the time of discharge, the wife of the appellant claimed he was the baby's father. The court of appeal judges Patrick Kiage, Mumbi Ngugi and Francis Tuiyott sitting at the Kisumu Court of Appeal, empathized with the man, but disagreed that he (the appellant) be compensated by the hospital for not detaining his wife.
