Veteran Actor Dele Odule reacts to Instagram fights, says ‘elders’ have intervened

Worried about the spate of recent Instagram outbursts among some of his colleagues, veteran actor, Dele Odule says some ‘elders’ in the Yoruba movie industry have waded in to make peace reign.

Mr Dele Odule is the national president of TAMPAM an acronym for Theatre Arts & Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria.

Major stakeholders in the Yoruba movie industry established the association in Ikorodu, Lagos in 2014.

The association is a breakaway faction of the crisis-ridden Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, ANTP, which is largely made up of actors and actresses in the Yoruba movie industry.

Speaking with reporters, Mr Odule, said TAMPAM is aware of the crisis and is trying to resolve it.

He said, “Although some of the warring parties are not part of the our association, we will still wade in however we wont make our findings or decision public. These sort of frictions is not exclusive to actors alone lawyers and doctors do face such issues”.

In recent times, some of the cat fights amongst some Yoruba actresses have been between experienced actors and ‘newbies.’

When asked if the warring parties don’t look up to veterans like himself, he gave an interesting response.

“Have you ever seen me have an outburst with Jide Kosoko on Instagram before? Have you Mr. Latin call out Oga Bello or Yomi Fash Lanso on instagram before? If the younger actors indeed looked up to us they won’t act the way they are doing at the moment. But, it’s normal because human beings must disagree. These incessant fights would be resolved and kept private.”

From Mercy Aigbe to Toyin Aihmaku and the latest warring parties, Liz Anjorin and Ronke Oshodi-Oke, a host of other Yoruba actresses have taken to Instagram to fight dirty.

Their incessant social media fights are a source of concern to their colleagues and fans alike.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified its position on the use of Google Maps, The FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Gora was quoted saying that driving with the aid of Google map using mobile phones is a serious traffic offence. Gora said this at the inauguration of the 2019 Ember Months Campaign by Lugbe Unit Command of the FRSC in Abuja yesterday. But, FRSC Spokesman Bisi Kazeem making reference to Gora’s comments said the Sector Commander was quoted out of context and his statement outrightly misrepresented. Kazeem said the FRSC as a technology-driven organisation is not and has never stood against the use of Google Maps by Motorists. The statement read: “To state the obvious, we have always enlightened the public on the position of the law on the use of phone while driving. “The statement he made during the flag off buttresses the position of the Corps, which is that any driver who intends to deploy the use of Google Map...
