Ed Sheeran sued for ‘copying’ Marvin Gaye’s song

Ed Sheeran, British singer, is facing a $100 million lawsuit for allegedly ripping off a Marvin Gaye song.

Structured Asset Sales, the company which filed the lawsuit, is claiming Sheeran’s song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is a carbon copy of Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get it On’.

According to a TMZ report, the lawsuit claims Sheeran’s song has the same melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bassline, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping as ‘Let’s Get it On’.

‘Thinking Out Loud’ has become an international hit since it was released in 2016, earning Sheeran three Grammy nominations.

It has more than 2.3 billion views on YouTube, and the album which it’s on, ‘X’, has sold more than 15 million copies.

‘Let’s Get it On’ was originally written by Edward Townsend and Gaye in 1973.

When Townsend died in 2003, one-third of the rights to the song were purchased by Structured Asset Sales.

The British singer was also sued by Townsend’s family in 2016.

Kenyan Law Court dismisses case of man seeking compensation after his wife eloped with another man from hospital

A lawsuit filed by a man seeking to be compensated by St Mary's Mission Hospital in Kenya for allowing his wife to leave the hospital with another man after giving birth, has been struck out by a law court. The appellant had sued the St. Mary's Mission hospital at Kakamega law courts in 2020 seeking general damages from the facility on grounds that the hospital had discharged his wife and allowed her to leave with another man. After delivering and at the time of discharge, the wife of the appellant claimed he was the baby's father. The court of appeal judges Patrick Kiage, Mumbi Ngugi and Francis Tuiyott sitting at the Kisumu Court of Appeal, empathized with the man, but disagreed that he (the appellant) be compensated by the hospital for not detaining his wife. Floyd Mayweather backs out of fight with 20-year-old kickboxer after receiving bashing from 50 Cent and others

American professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather, has dramatically made a U-Turn and won't be fighting 20-year-old Japanese kickboxer,Tenshin Nasukawa anymore for his comeback fight.
