Whistleblower’s Identity Revealed, Sue’s EFCC, FG

The identity of the acclaimed Ikoyi whistleblower, whose information led to the recovery of the sum of $43.4m, N23.3m and 27,800 Euros from Flat 7 Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos State, has been revealed.

His name is Abdulmunmini Musa, and he has filed a suit, demanding payment of the whistle-blowing fee on the recovery.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), and three others were sued as the defendants in the suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Three other defendants were those the plaintiff claimed participated in the whistle-blowing exercise over the Ikoyi funds said to have been kept in the building by the National Intelligence Agency.

They are Bala Maina, Steven Sunday, and  one Mr. Sherrif.
The plaintiff, through his suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/1158/2017, sought an order directing the EFCC and the Federal Ministry of Finance to include him as a beneficiary of the 2.5 to 5 per cent of the whistle-blowing fees or monetary percentage of the entitlement to be paid to Maina, Sunday and Sheriff.

He also sought a declaration that the Federal Government of Nigeria represented by the 2nd and 3rd defendants (EFCC and AGF) in this suit and the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th defendants are bound to comply with the whistle-blowers Executive policy or Whistle-blowers Executive Order to pay 2.5 – 5 per cent of whistle-blowing fees or percentage as issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria.”

He also sought that, “A declaration that the plaintiff, the 4th, 5th and 6th defendants actively participated and are instrumental to the whistle-blowing or disclosure of information disclosed to the 1st defendant staff or officers which resulted to the 1st defendant’s (EFCC’s) recovery of the sums $43.4m, N23.3m and 27,800 Euros at Flat 7 Osborne Towers. lkoyi, Lagos State.”

“A declaration that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants by themselves their agents or officers cannot exclude, deny or refuse to pay the sum of 2.5 to 5 per cent of the sum of $43.4m N23.3m and 27,800 Euros recovered by the officers or staff of the 1st defendants as a result of the disclosure or whistle blowing resulting to the recovery of the sum of $43.4m, N23.3m and 27,800 Euros of Flat 7 Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos State.”

FRSC reinforces directive on use of google maps while driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified its position on the use of Google Maps, The FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Gora was quoted saying that driving with the aid of Google map using mobile phones is a serious traffic offence. Gora said this at the inauguration of the 2019 Ember Months Campaign by Lugbe Unit Command of the FRSC in Abuja yesterday. But, FRSC Spokesman Bisi Kazeem making reference to Gora’s comments said the Sector Commander was quoted out of context and his statement outrightly misrepresented.
