The guidelines outlined actions, measures and requirements needed for the safe reopening of schools after the COVID-19 pandemic. The Federal Ministry of Education released the guidelines in Abuja on Monday, the safe distancing measures in the new guidelines required that in schools and other learning facilities, learners should be supported to stay two meters apart. The leader of the “One million boys” gang and most wanted Ibadan criminal, Biola Ebila, has been killed by the police. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the death of Ebila on Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State. Fadeyi, however, said that he does not have the details and manner in which the deceased was killed. Hungary’s government today announced it's decision to bar travel from Africa, most of Asia apart from China and Japan, and restricting entry from several European countries after worldwide spikes in coronavirus cases. Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Chief of Staff Gergely Gulyas said that Hungarian health officials have placed 154 countries into three risk categories based on numbers of coronavirus infections. “We need to protect our security so that the virus is not introduced from abroad… the level of active infection cases at home is falling, and we want to keep it like that,” he told reporters in Budapest. Entry into Hungary would be barred for citizens from countries assessed as “red” from Tuesday midnight, including all African and Asian countries apart from China and Japan. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) says the unification of the country’s exchange rate is a welcome development that will engender increased investment inflow in the real sector of the economy. Mr Mansur Ahmed, MAN President, made this remark after CBN announced the exchange rate unification. Ahmed said that the association had, over the years, been advocating for a unified exchange rate to promote a market-friendly rate in the country. The unified rate, he said, is capable of facilitating stable production planning and engender sustainable economic growth. The National Parents Teachers’ Association of Nigeria has said it is confused about the proclamation by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, that schoolchildren nationwide would not be allowed to sit the West African Senior School Certificate Examination slated for August 4 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NAPTAN National President, Alhaji Haruna Danjuma, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said the association had resolved to meet Adamu by Monday to seek an amicable solution. NAPTAN had earlier called on the government to reopen schools nationwide “to pupils who will be sitting external examinations of the West African Examinations Council and the National Examinations Council.” The association said parents had resolved to work together with schools to put measures in place such as the provision of face masks, handwashing containers and hand sanitisers to minimise the risks of virus contraction by the pupils. The Dodo River Communities Development Association in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa on Friday inaugurated projects worth over N141.65 million funded by the Chevron Joint Venture. The beneficiary communities are Amatu I, Amatu II, Biabiri I, Bilabiri II and Bisangbene. The projects include Dodo River Secretariat in Yenagoa, building and furnishing of Bilabiri I Primary School, water treatment projects, concrete roads and twin-engine speed boats. Others include communication systems, provision of plastic chairs and tables and canopies for the communities, amongst others. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Dodo House, a secretariat for the communities, Mr Okebia Keku, the Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa Ministry of Mineral Resources, applauded the association for the prudent use of the funds.
