Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, has ruled out the possibility of leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid in January, even as he admitted dreaming of joining the Spanish giants so he can possibly win the Ballon D’Or prize. Speaking after Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Southampton on Sunday, Hazard confirmed that joining the European champions remains his “dream” and that he wants to “make it happen”. His comments prompted reports in Spain that Madrid could look to test Chelsea’s resolve to keep Hazard in January. But in a news conference while on Belgium duty, Hazard confirmed on Thursday that he has no intention of leaving Chelsea in the middle of the season. Asked if a move to Madrid in January is a possibility, Hazard replied: “No.” Hazard did, however, trigger further speculations about his future with a teasing reply when asked if he needs to play in Spain to win the Ballon d’Or. “That’s why I want to go, maybe,” he told ESPN.

The House of Representatives on Thursday resolved that Sergeants-at-arms in charge of security within the National Assembly complex should be armed. The lawmakers, therefore, resolved that members of the security outfit should proceed for the arms training and that firearms should be procured for them to better secure the National Assembly. The resolution was sequel to the adoption of the prayers in a motion of urgent national importance sponsored by Hon. Ossai Ossai (PDP- Delta) to guard against any future attempt to invade the National Assembly. The lawmaker while arguing the motion said “it has become necessary to beef up NASS security because of increase of security threats. “Arming Sergeants -at-arm is a universal standard practice.” The lawmaker reminded his colleagues that on April the 18th, suspected thugs gained entrance into the Senate Chamber and snatched the the mace, the symbol of authority. Ariana Grande has confirmed she's taking a break from music to take care of herself after being through "hell and back". The singer, whose ex-boyfriend Mac Miller tragically died last month, defended herself after a fan criticized her. The follower was annoyed that she shared a three-minute clip of her pet pig when she said she would share an official video for Breathin. The fan branded Ariana as "lazy" and the singer fired back, saying: This era is beautiful to me but idk. Been thru hell and back and I'm doing my best to keep going. She added: Thought this would make u laugh while u wait for the real one bc i took a break to take care of myself for a lil while. My b. Mohammed Dewji, who happens to be Africa's youngest billionaire, has been kidnapped in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The 43-year-old Tanzanian tycoon was walking into the Colosseum Hotel and Fitness Club in Oyster Bay, Dar es Salaam for his routine gym session this morning when two white men and an unknown number of accomplices in two cars waylaid him and quickly drove away with him. Dar es Salaam special zone police commander Lazaro Mambosasa said security personnel around the country have been put on high alert in the hunt for the abductors. He also appealed for support from members of the public to report any information that may help to track the abductors.

Today, the Nigerian Senate passed the sum of N234 billion for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the 2018 budget.  The figure comprises the N189 billion requested by INEC for the conduct the 2019 general election, and N45 billion provided for the commission under statutory transfer. The lawmakers approved that the N189 billion be vired from both recurrent and capital components of the Special Intervention Programme captured in the Service Wide Vote of the 2018 Appropriation Act.  The passage of the budget followed the presentation of the report of the Committee on Appropriation chaired by Sen. Danjuma Goje who said that the committee considered President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for N242 billion for INEC and security agencies to conduct the election.  He said the executive allocated N143 billion for INEC from virement in the 2018 budget without specifying the source of the virement. Earlier today, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had a closed door meeting with former president Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, Ogun state.  They were also joined by sen. Bruce, Pdp chairman, Bishop oyedepo and other dignitaries. Chief olusegun obasanjo made it clear tha the had forgiven atiku and assurred that atiku has his full support in the forth coming elections. Justice Binta Nyako of Federal High Court in Abuja, has withdrawn from the 19 suits challenging the status of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The suits were filed last year in respect of the validity or otherwise of Magu remaining as the Acting Chairman of the EFCC. Justice Nyako’s decision was in connection with the ongoing trial of the judge’s husband and former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako; and her stepson, Senator Abdulaziz Nyako, bordering on corruption charges before another judge of the court, Justice Okon Abang. Justice Nyako announced her withdrawal from the suits in the court on Tuesday, saying that her decision was influenced by EFCC’s repeated formal requests to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Adamu Abdu-Kafarati, demanding the re-assignment of the matters to another judge of the court.
