Subscribers with NIN can replace their Sim cards - ALTON

The Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria has announced that subscribers with National Identification Numbers can now replace their lost or damaged SIM at any of the customer centres across the country. This was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement titled ‘ALTON’s Update on SIM Registration and NIN Integration’ signed by ALTON Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo and Publicity Secretary, Damian Udeh. Subscribers with lost or damaged SIM cards had been complaining of the challenges they had been experiencing difficulties to get SIM swaps. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, had instructed the telecoms industry regulator, Nigerian Communications Commission, to stop the sale of SIM cards in Nigeria pending an audit of the SIM registration database. House of Reps want EFCC to retain 0.05% recoveries as running cost

The House of Representatives is considering making the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission retain a part of funds and property it recovers from corrupt persons and organisations to run its operations. If the bill, sponsored by a member of the House, Mr Tajudeen Yusuf, is eventually passed by the National Assembly, the EFCC will be empowered to retain 0.05 per cent of its recoveries. The legislation is titled, ‘A Bill for an Act to Amend the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act, Cap. E1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, to Make Provisions for a Limit and Timeframe Within which a Person Appointed as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Commission can Occupy the Office in an Acting Capacity; Provide for the Commission to Retain a Percentage of the Loot Recovered to Fund its Operations.’ The bill is part of the four bills by different sponsors seeking to amend the EFCC Act, which the House consolidated on December 15. China approves first coronavirus vaccine from Sinopharm

China has approved for conditional use its first coronavirus vaccine developed by state-owned pharmaceutical company Sinopharm. The approval, announced by the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, has come a day after Sinopharm said its vaccine was found to be 79.3 per cent effective in preliminary data from the final round of testing. China aims to vaccinate at least 50 million people before the start of the Lunar New Year holiday, in mid-February, in order to prevent the disease from spreading as hundreds of millions of people are expected to travel home for the holidays.

Kaduna Police Command nab organisers of Kaduna ‘nude party’

The Kaduna State Police Command said it has arrested the organisers of the maiden edition of a Kaduna Sex Party. However, the party which received high publicity on social media and slated for December 27, 2020, at an undisclosed venue in the capital, had been aborted. Part of the requirements for participants on the invitation card obtained by our correspondent was that males and females were expected to be naked. The party was expected to last till daybreak during which participants would have sex for a fee ranging from N2,000 for the popular side and N3,000 to N5,000 naira for the VIPs. However, the state swiftly moved to abort the party, directing the police to arrest the organisers. Oyo State Government lifts curfew, okays crossover services

The Oyo State Government has lifted the 12 am to 4 am curfew earlier imposed on states by the Federal Government. A statement from Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, also noted that the state government had permitted cross-over services in the state. The statement read, “Following a review of the pronouncement of the Technical Team of the Task Force on COVID-19 in Oyo State on 29th December 2020, His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Engr. World’s first patient to get Covid vaccine, Margaret Keenan receives second Pfizer jab

Margaret Keenan, 91, the World’s first patient to get Covid vaccine has received her second dose of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.  She had her follow-up injection today and is now at home and recovering well, the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust said. Teacher, 26, charged with 2nd-degree rape 'for having sex with a 16-year-old student

 A special-education teacher from Oklahoma has been charged with second-degree rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student. Andee Lantz ,26, was working at Carnegie Public Schools in Oklahoma when she allegedly began a relationship with a 16-year-old student. She later resigned in mid-November amid allegations of sexual misconduct. According to court documents cited by News9, the case began unfolding on November 16, when Carnegie Schools Superintendent Eric Smith contacted the local police, saying that Lantz was involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student at the local high school. Smith said the allegations against Lantz came to light after the student began circulating a nude photo of the teacher around the school. Paris Saint-Germain today confirmed the sacking of coach Thomas Tuchel, who had been at the club since July 2018. Tuchel's departure was reported on Christmas Eve, but at that time there was no official word from the Ligue 1 champions until Tuesday morning. Popular fashion designer, Pierre Cardin passes away at 98

French-Italian fashion designer, Pierre Cardin has passed on at the age of 98. Cardin known for his visionary creations and also bringing stylish clothes to the masses, died at a hospital in Neuilly, west of Paris, on Tuesday at the age of 98, his family told news agency AFP. France's Fine Arts Academy confirmed Cardin's death in a tweet, adding that members of the academy are "very sad." Cardin was born in Italy in 1922 but emigrated to France as a young child. He founded his own fashion house in 1950 after a stint with Christian Dior and built up a global business empire. Arsenal slowly getting back on right track after second consecutive win

It's been a long time since my last blog post and to be honest, I've missed it. I took a break because I couldn't cope... I was going through a lot and I was trying to get my life back to normalcy.  I have some good news to share with you guys very very soon 😉.  I did a lot of growing and self improvement this year and I'm glad I took time off. You all would agree with me that this year has been a lot challenging 🤗. I apologize for the long unannounced break and I appreciate you being there for me always, it makes me happy seeing that you read my blog.
